Andorra Becomes Epic
EPIC
ANDORRA becomes
The Andorra MTB Classic-Pyrenees has elevated its status in global mountain biking and will, from 2023 onwards, be named the Andorra Epic. This new name reflects the changes in the event to four full stages and its shift to becoming an Epic Legend status event within the Epic Series.
Andorra, the 468 square kilometre country landlocked between France and Spain, has cemented itself as a favourite training and racing ground for the world’s most accomplished cyclists and mountain bikers. This is, in no small part, thanks to its towering Pyrenees mountain passes and trails, cycling-friendly infrastructure, pleasant Summer and Spring climates, and the welcoming nature of the locals.
For the past two years, the Andorra MTB Classic-Pyrenees attracted mountain bikers from around the world to experience the country’s incredible trails and the class-leading event organisation that is synonymous with the Epic Series. Now teams are set to enjoy more riding, climbing, and more Pyrenees trail time as the event has transformed into the Andorra Epic and features four stages, with a total of 220 kilometres and 7 160 metres of climbing.
“The name Andorra Epic reinforces the task at hand and elevates the race within the Epic Series and the world of mountain biking,” said Aleix Ribell, Race Director of the Andorra Epic. “Andorra is a mountain bike paradise; the name change perfectly positions the event experience of more mountain biking, more kilometres, and more opportunities to Conquer the Pyrenees in Andorra.”
The Epic Series has also elevated the status of the race to a Legend race. Riders who finish the 2023 Andorra Epic and have completed either the 4Islands MTB Croatia or SPAR Swiss Epic, and the Absa Cape Epic, will receive the coveted Epic Legend medal on the finish line in La Massana and join an exclusive club of riders who also call themselves Epic Legends.
“The Epic Series offers premium MTB experiences in iconic destinations.” Explained Kati Csak, Senior Director of Epic Series. “Andorra, high up in the Pyrenees mountains, offers just that – world-class trails to be conquered by teams of two, complemented with comfortable hotels and local cuisine to enjoy the off-bike camaraderie with fellow competitors.”
